No Clock Changes: Maintain Greenwich Mean Time throughout the year

Petition Details

Stop this pointless and outdated exercise as it achieves nothing. Supposedly adopted to save energy in the two World Wars. We now have modern lighting and most parents escort their children to school.

Additional Information

23,000 children surveyed suggested their activity was 15-20% higher on summer days. The AA estimates around 100 lives each year would be saved by avoiding traffic accidents on dark evenings.
BST brings us into line with Europe, helping us to do business. The view of the British Association of Leisure Parks tourism earnings by increase by £2.5-3.5bn.
Extra hour of evening light (winter) could save £485m a year in bills, as households would require less energy to heat and light their homes.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We aren't sure what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Your petition calls for Greenwich Meantime Time all year round. However, the background seems to be about British Summer Time.

If you would like British Summer Time to apply all year around you could sign this petition instead:
