NHS screening for Lung cancer for people aged 55 and over.
My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer in September 2018. Before her diagnosis she had no symptoms and was healthy. She died on October 6th 2018 after a short battle with the disease. She didn’t display Any symptoms until the cancer had speedy to her kidneys, liver and spine.
Lung cancer is one of the biggest killers in the world. Never usually displaying symptoms untill it is too late. Regular 3-5 yearly screening in people who smoke or have a history of smoking or for people who have family history of Lung cancer or other health problems that higher the risk will hopefully lower the mortality rate and give people who develop this disease a fighting chance when it is at a stage where successfully treated.
