Petition Action

For a referendum on adopting a fairer, more representative political system.

Petition Details

Our present system is over a century old from a time when most could barely read/write and had little or no access to information with which to make an educated decision.
If software or production techniques are outdated they will lead to ruin and it same is with governance as we can evidently see.

Additional Information

Successive governments follow the will of big businesses that pay to get them elected (not the people) and then are used as salesmen of bombs and murder ect.

Always a minority of the country wins an election so we need a system where most (if not everyone) wins.

If we vote to change then further vote/votes would be required and there are many possibilities but why not a system where whoever you and I vote for has the power of your vote for 4 years no matter if they win or lose locally.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take specific action.

We understand that you would like a referendum on the electoral system, but we are not sure exactly what the options are that you would like to be considered.

You could start a new petition asking for a referendum on adopting specific changes to the electoral system, if that is something you would like to see happen.
