Re-introduce a form of National Service at the point of the school leaving age
Crime in England and Wales for Year Ending June 2018 has seen an increase in a number of areas, namely:
Public Order Offences 30% increase;
Robbery 22% increase;
Theft 8% increase;
Violence 12% increase.
In your area, is this attributable to youths?
The data was obtained from https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/bulletins/crimeinenglandandwales/yearendingjune2018 and is the most current.
If we were to consider a form of National Service, would crime rates be reduced? Currently, the school leaving options are, that you do one of:
stay in full-time education, e.g. College;
start an apprenticeship or traineeship;
spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training.
