New Litter Laws Needed - Present Laws Do Not Deter Rubbish in this Country.

Petition Details

Litter is hazardous and destructive. In our modern Delivery, Packaging and Take-Away society we should have UK wide strategies; National Government should give all County, Borough and Town Councils, clear directives that are concise and speak of tougher penalties to all perpetrators.

Additional Information

Many organisations such as Local Government, Keep Britain Tidy and CPRE have been tackling the problem for some time but it is not working - there is no centralised co-ordination. Others also have a responsibility: Highways England, Road Hauliers, Take-Away Outlets; all of us, but to make it work there must be a top down unified approach for not only the clean up process but also the disposal of the many types of litter. The Blue Planet applies to our Earth as well as our Oceans

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you would like changes to littering laws, but are not sure what changes you would like.

You could start a new petition calling for tougher fines for people caught littering, if that is something you would like to see happen.
