HM Government to comment on the misuse of official statistics by Vote Leave.
Serving cabinet minister, Michael Gove was co-convenor of Vote Leave and has explicitly supported the group's claim:
“We send the EU £350 million a week. Let’s fund our NHS instead.”
The UK Statistics Authority debunked this, we demand an explanation of the Government position on this claim.
In 2016 the UK Statistics Authority debunked the Vote Leave claim that the UK contributes £350 million to the EU each week, and that this full amount could be spent on the NHS. (https://t.co/UdsNlI3mLQ)
Despite this, a recent study by King's College has shown that 42% of Britons who had heard of the claim still believe it. (https://t.co/9yG1vQQ5xA)
Therefore, it is important for our democracy that the Government issue a statement to eliminate public confusion over the matter.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because it is the responsibility of Vote Leave to respond to criticisms of its campaign and not the UK Government or Parliament.
