Introduce deposits on glass and plastic bottles and aluminium cans

Additional Information

To reduce litter and raise revenue HMG should introduce a tax (say 25p) on all drinks packaging. This would be redeemable by the citizens by returning the packaging at recyling centers or council dumps.

This incentivises citizens to not-discard and indeed collect litter. Revenue would be raised as less than 100% of the tax would be redeemed. This could also reduce consumption of alcohol, carbonated drinks and bottled water - with health/environment benefits,
