Legal requirement for drivers to inform police and insurance of hitting a cat

Petition Details

As a cat owner, I would hate to be told my cat is dead and the driver just drove away, as it is currently legal to do.
A driver must inform police and insurance of they hit a dog, a domestic pet, but are as yet not. Needed. To. If. They hit a cat.this is wrong.

Additional Information

In October and start. Of. November 2018 45 cats have been reported. Injured. Or dead around the Beeston chilwell and Lenton Abbey area of Nottingham.

A dog hit by a car earns you. Points on your license a cat earns you a free pass to do it again.

A cat is a DOMESTIC animal as is a dog, a free roaming animal as is a dog. So why are there differences?
We want points on licence for hitting cats. And legal responsibility to notify police and insurance of hitting a cat.
