Petition Action

Amend the 1989 Children's Act to ensure rapists do not gain access to children.

Petition Details

In November 2018 a UK council offered access for a convicted, serial rapist, to visit the child that was conceived following the attack.

This is as a result of the 1989 Children's Act which gives councils powers they should never be given, especially under these circumstances.

Additional Information

Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales each year.

Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in England and Wales a year.

Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence choose to report to the police - Many cases are mishandled and cause further trauma to the victim. More and more cases go unprosecuted, and the victim receives no justice.
