Make voting in UK elections and referendums mandatory.
The percentage of British people who turn out to vote in Elections and Referendums has historically been much lower than it should be to truly represent the views of Britain as a whole. In order to redress the balance, and to provide a balanced democratic view, voting should be made mandatory.
In the 2016 Brexit referendum the turnout of voters varied from region to region from 63% to 75%. https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/find-information-by-subject/elections-and-referendums/past-elections-and-referendums/eu-referendum/electorate-and-count-information
In the 2017 General Election the turnout was 69%. https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/our-work/our-research/electoral-data/2017-uk-general-election-results
