Make child benefit based on household income not one individual earning over 50K

Petition Details

PLEASE take a minute out of your day and sign this petition and let's make the below fair!

Raising a child is expensive enough and this system is all wrong. Base the eligibility on HOUSEHOLD income rather than individual income.

Additional Information

The current system is unfair, a family with one person with an income of more than £50k a year is not eligible for full child benefit, whereas a family with two earning £45k a year are eligible!
Example:
Family A - total income £75,000 (Dad £60,000, Mum £15,000) They receive NO child benefit.

Family B - total income £75,000 (Dad £55,000, Mum £20,000) They receive REDUCED child benefit.

Family C - total income of £98,000 (Dad & Mum both earn £49,000) They receive FULL child benefit.
