Illegal to hit a cat and not report to police, be equal in 1988 Road Traffic Act
To be made illegal to hit a cat with a vehicle. If a cat is hit it must be reported to the police. For cats to be made as equal in the law as dogs and for them to be included among the list of animals in the 1988 Road Traffic Act
230,000 cats were killed in hit and runs in 2017, due to speeding and carelessness whilst driving. Drivers often speed up in an attempt to spook the cat which often results in fatalities. In the eyes of the law cats are not seen or treated as equals to dogs. They are beloved family pets and deserve the same rights because cats lives matter. By spreading awareness, together we can reduce the number of cat fatalities and make the roads safer for all. What if it were a child?
