Petition against meetings at the Bank of England to transfer Venezuelan assets

Petition Details

The purpose of this petition is to call on the Bank of England to refrain from any contact with representatives from the Venezuelan Finance Ministry and Central Bank where said individuals position have not been ratified by the Venezuelan National Assembly and are subject to international sanctions.

Additional Information

Mr S Zerpa is sanctioned by the US for corruption. Mr C Ortega position as President of the Central Bank has not been ratified by the Venezuelan Assembly.
Any meeting by the BoE to discuss the transfer of assets held on behalf of the good people of Venezuela poses reputational risk and is in violation of US sanctions.
MP A Lewer called on the Governor of the BoE and the Chancellor to reject any meeting requests and to decline any asset transfer unless formally approved by the Venezuelan Assembly
