Petition Action

All Government departments work through the Xmas break in readiness for No Deal.

Petition Details

Some government departments have backlogs of work to complete to be ready for an orderly exit from the European Union on 29th March 2019. These plans should be completed in order to avoid additional costs of not being prepared for World Trade Organisation rules on that date.

Additional Information

Ministers are accusing the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip Hammond, of deliberately slowing down preparations for 'No Deal Brexit'. https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/19/ministers-accuse-remainer-chancellor-of-slowing-down-no-deal-brexit-preparations/

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

We understand that you are concerned about Brexit preparations, but departmental working hours are an operational decision for Government departments and not the UK Government as a whole.

You could start a new petition calling on the UK Government to take specific further steps to prepare for no deal if that is something you would like to see happen.
