Petition Action

Change the English Property Law under current legislation to that in Scotland.

Petition Details

A purchaser has recently had a vendor of a property just ' pull out ' at the last moment before contracts were exchanged causing expense not just to them but everybody else involved in the chain. I understand that once an offer has been accepted in Scotland then that is ' contracts exchanged '

Additional Information

There seems to be a lack of recourse to the purchasers at the moment and vendors can just change their minds at any time leaving the purchasers ' high and dry ' with no legal remedy available to them to recover the costs already incurred i.e. Valuation Fees paid and Solicitors Fees incurred. I believe that in Scotland this is not the case
