Petition Action

M.P's to be mandated to vote the same as their constituents.

Petition Details

David Cameron promised in his leaflet to all homes before the referendum of 2016.No Customs Union,
No Single Market,
No ECJ,
No payments to the EU.
So People knew exactly what they were voting for.

Additional Information

Of the 632 constituencies that took part in the referendum vote, 401 voted to leave the E.U., while 231 voted to remain in the E.U.
This being the case, if members of parliament were truly representing their electorate, then they should vote accordingly based on the two options available which are,
1/ Accept and back Teresa May’s current agreement or
2/ Vote against the current and any subsequent agreement which involves the U.K. being in any way tied to the E.U.
Then on 29-03-2019, we merely walk away and leave under W.T.O. arrangements.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

How an MP votes would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.

You could ask your own MP to vote according to the result of referendum in your constituency. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them here:
