All ‘fox’ hunts to be filmed by 3rd party, to ensure compliance with Hunting Act
Hunting of wild animals using dogs was made illegal in 2004, yet many continue to do it. Alternative hunts have been created in which dogs follow pre-placed scents, however many still attack wild animals. We believe the following further measures need to be taken:
- Dogs taking part in the hunt should be muzzled. They are only animals and do not know they should be following the pre-placed scent. It is the owners’ responsibility to ensure wild animals aren’t harmed.
- Hunts should be filmed. The whole hunt should be filmed, paid for by the organised hunt group, and the footage reviewed by a third party to make sure it is compliant with 2004 Hunting Act. Any illegal activity should be passed over to the police for prosecution.
