Petition Action

Make politicians respect democracy or resign from politics.

Petition Details

A high percentage of MPs are against Brexit, even though more than 50% of their constituents voted for it! Almost all MPs from both sides agreed that they would respect the result of the referendum. Many MPs are now doing their utmost to overturn the result or not deliver what was voted for.

Additional Information

The Ballot paper for the Brexit referendum asked a question, "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?". The question was binary, and did not mention the word "Deal". The result was that 17,410,742 (51.9%) voters registered their desire to leave the European Union. They did not vote for any type of "deal". They simply wanted to leave. Politicians on all sides of the house should respect that, put a stop to the Project Fear lies, and get us out!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The resignation of an MP/Minister would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.
