Do Not Allow Flour Fortification with Folic Acid in the UK
In early 2019 the government will be consulting on mandatory flour fortification with folic acid in the UK to prevent foetal abnormalities.
Folic acid is a synthetic form of vitamin B9 which not every individual can process and has been linked to increased cancer risk, tumour promotion in existing cancers & interference with antifolate chemotherapy drugs. Colon cancer rates in the USA and Chile have increased since starting fortification.

We call on the UK Govt to allow people to choose for themselves if they wish to ingest folic acid.
