Petition Action

Introduce a higher level of student funding for University students.

Petition Details

I’m campaigning on behalf of all University students to increase the rate of student finance to one which can support students to live independently without being reliant on part-time employment or credit.

Additional Information

The minimum amount of student finance available for students living away from home is £4054 for the academic year. The cheapest room available at the University of Derby on a 42-week contract is £4,621.68 per week leaving a deficit of £567.68 before any additional living costs such as food and travel have been taken into consideration. The current system is not sustainable, for neither taxpayers or students.
