Repeal the EU Communities (1972) Act immediately
HM Government should immediately put before Parliament a Bill for the Repeal of the European Communities Act (1972). This should come as a first step in the leaving process, not the final step.
A fundamental principle of the English Constitution is that
“No Parliament can bind its successors”. And yet the European Communities Act purports to do that by requiring future Parliaments to legislate in accordance with EU law, as prescribed by
EU Directives.
