Petition Action

Members of Parliament should have job descriptions and terms of reference.

Petition Details

Following the 2016 referendum, it is important for the general public to have confidence in Parliament to uphold the wishes of UK public first, their own constituents second and their personal views third.
Terms of reference for MPs could be developed through public consultation

Additional Information

Members of Parliament should have 'terms of reference' included in their party's manifesto. The terms of reference must include the need to represent their constituents following election. In the event of a national referendum, their allegiance to the referendum result would take precedence.
Party manifestos should be auditable and measured.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because are unsure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government or Parliament to establish an independent body to audit the implementation of party manifestos if that is something you would like to see happen.
