Pass a law that prohibits NI border checks in event of No Deal Brexit.
The people of Ireland do not want a hard border. Neither does the rest of the United Kingdom.
This issue is the only issue that the EU, Ireland and the United Kingdom agree on.
For that reason, surely the British government should pass a law and put in place before any possible No Deal Brexit.
Trade from outside the EU isn’t checked until in some cases 73 miles inside the EU’s border.
The port of Hamburg, Germany is further away from its own border, the North Sea 73 miles, than Belfast is away from Dundalk 51 miles.
This includes livestock.
This is all achievable using normal everyday items, pens, phones and email.
If it’s acceptable for the EU to have it’s customs and regulatory checks miles away then it should be for the UK too.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand that you are concerned about border checks after Brexit but we aren't sure exactly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
You could start a new petition setting out clearly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take. For example, if you would like the UK Government to commit to not introducing any border checks coming into Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland you could start a petition about that.
