Require the NHS to notify patients whose test results are at risk of delay
There is currently no system in place to notify patients if their results are caught up in a backlog, and from a personal point of view this can lead to great stress and anxiety.
It should be part of law/the NHS Constitution to notify patients of notable delays as this can cause distress.
According to "Standards for the communication of patient diagnostic test results on discharge from hospital" (NHS England, March 2016), the stress and anxiety on a patient in the delay of the results has been acknowledged, and they claimed "reviews" were being carried out.
