Encourage Japan to reverse their decision to resume commercial whaling on 1/7/19
Japan has announced that it will resume commercial whaling from 1/7/19. We petition the UK government to suspend the purchase of all Japanese products until the Japanese government can agree with the global wish to end the practice of commercial whaling.
Japanese demand for whale meat is so low that the major supermarkets have stopped selling whale meat. Iceland and Norway are experiencing similar declines in demand. Pollution/climate change already negatively impacts the marine habitat. Japan financially subsidises its whaling fleet. There is no justification to resume the practice of whaling, either from a commercial, demand or ecological basis.
