Petition Action

Ensure the Mental Health Act takes account of autism

Petition Details

The current Mental Health Act makes no allowances for autism and the presentation by people with ASC. This means that a large number of people do not receive vital treatment as they don’t tick the right boxes. It needs amending to ensure treatment is available to all.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about autism, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You can find out more about policies and services for people with autism here:

researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/CBP-7172

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
