Stop using schools as polling stations

Petition Details

The school my children attend is regularly being closed and used as a polling station. It is unacceptable to interrupt our children’s education so that people can vote when there are plenty of other suitable venues. The government should stop schools being used as a venue.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the issue you raise is not the responsibility of the Government or Parliament. It's the responsibility of local councils to decide where polling stations should be.

You could start a new petition asking Parliament to change the law to ban local councils from using schools as polling stations, if that's what you would like to happen.
