Protect British seafaring by introducing a ‘Jones Act’ into British law
We domestically use foreign ships with foreign workers operating under much lesser standards while British seafarers sit at home unemployed and any aspiring British seafarers see no hope of finding work in the future. The ‘Jones Act’ is a US act which protects US jobs and standards in the industry
Our energy sector and our ferries are increasingly being serviced by the lowest bidder. Standards are dropping, British jobs are being lost and our seafaring traditions thrown out the window all to save a few pounds at the top.
