Petition Action

Allow students to protest on climate change without fear of being punished.

Petition Details

Students across the UK are protesting against climate change on Friday 15th February 2019. They should be able to protest freely without having to return to their institution of education with fears of being harshly sanctioned.

Additional Information

The students are all protesting against something that the people we have placed in charge aren't working to fix, so it is now in our hands to ensure that our generation and the generations after us have a place to call their planet.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because it's the responsibility of schools to authorise absence, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition calling on the UK Government or Parliament to take specific action about climate change following those protests if that is something you would like to see happen.
