Reconsider government response to HMRC: Treating Taxpayer's Fairly
In December 2018 the Economic Affairs Select Committee published a damning report on HMRC. It set out a number of areas which require improvement.
The current Government has rejected the majority of recommendations and this decision should be reviewed again.
A homeless man had been hounded by HMRC for late penalty charges totalling £1,600. The judge slammed HMRC's treatment of this individual as "scandalous". Outrageously, HMRC lawyers insisted there was nothing "special" & his homelessness was not "out of the ordinary run of events".
Is it time for tax payers & small businesses to ask for more protection and easier access to the justice system? Are low hanging fruits easier targets as oppose to corporation like Google and Amazon?
