Immigration ~ month ~ UK
Abolish indefinite detention of immigrants by implementing a 1 month limit.
We have a policy of keeping some immigrants in indefinite detention. This is unjust as:
A. It can cause mental distress because of uncertainty, immigrants can be kept for longer than 1 year.
B. It can allow inefficiency in processing immigrants.
C. Some detained came to the UK as minors.

'Nearly half of the detainees said they felt unsafe, and on further enquiry it transpired that this was largely an expression of concern as a result of uncertainty about the future and the prospect of
removal from the UK. '
'In several cases, detention was maintained despite the acceptance of professional evidence of torture.'
'Recommendation: There should be a strict time limit on the length of detention'

'There should be a time limit of 28 days on the length of time anyone can be held in immigration detention'
