MPs resigning from a party should trigger a local by-election
A by-election is held when an MP resigns from the House of Commons, or because an MP has died. A seat can be declared vacant due to bankruptcy, mental illness or conviction for a serious criminal offence. A by-election does not automatically take place if an MP changes political party.
Many people vote for a particular political ideology or manifesto which they have an affinity.
To move away from those very ideals which people voted for, is an affront to democracy.
I urge people to vote for this petition, so this issue can be debated in parliament and changes made to the rules to stop this abuse of power
