Call an immediate by-election when an MP resigns from their party
Voters don't vote for an individual. Few of us know any MPs personally. We vote for the party they represent.
Constituents have a right to feel that a Member of Parliament who resigns from their party is no longer actively working to implement the manifesto under which they were elected.
