Mandatory by-election if MP resigns from party they were elected to represent.
In an election, most people vote for an MP to deliver the manifesto of a political party. At the time of writing the electorate of 8 Labour & 3 Tory constituencies have seen their MPs resign from their parties. Thus their democratic wishes are not being met. True democracy requires by-elections!
For true democracy it is vital the electorate has confidence it’s voting wishes are met.
The following article details the negative reactions of the electorate in constituencies where the person they trusted with their vote has changed party.
