MP's resigning from a political party must stand down and seek re-election.
Several MP's have resigned from their parties but they continue to hold their parliamentary seats. They were elected to represent their respective parties under the manifestos of those parties, therefore they should not keep their seats as they may not now represent the views of their electorate.
