Make statutory Adoption Pay available for the self-employed.
This e-petition highlights the discrimination faced by Self Employed people wishing to adopt children.
As an `employee' it has been recognised that there is an entitlement to Statutory Adoption Pay, as there is for Statutory Maternity Pay. For Self Employed people there is Maternity Allowance.
Therefore it should follow that a Self Employed person adopting should be entitled to Adoption Pay. There is currently no such allowance!
This is particluarly difficult when single adopters or one partner of adopters are required to take a minimum of 6 to12 months unpaid adoption leave!
I petition the Government to introduce an Adoption Pay for Self Employed people.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
