Amend Domestic Abuse Bill to ensure anonymity for victims in the media
Victims of domestic violence should automatically be given anonymity within all types of media. Victims' identities are currently not protected in court so can be named and reported in the media.
Being named within the media is not only embarrassing but damaging to the victims' families, careers, mental health, future relationships and can even cause further abuse which will result in these crimes not being reported.
The perpetrator however, should always be made known to the public so future partners are aware of a past crime.
The Domestic Abuse Bill should include a right to anonymity for all victims of domestic violence.
