All Public building disabled toilets are fitted with Emergency Red Cord Alarms.
After enquiring to the Scottish Borders Council Planning and Regulatory Services I was informed that it was only compulsory to fit these potential life saving Emergency Red Cord Alarms in new Buildings and only when it is "practicable" in older buildings.
Along with my Wife we visited the Teviot Smokery Water Gardens Coffee and Gift shop. When wishing to use the toilets I could not negotiate my walker into the toilet having to leave it outside.
When in the toilet cubical I noticed there was no Emergency Red Cord Alarm which left me feeling isolated and afraid that if I stumbled and fell I could not summon help.
I reported my concerns to the staff and it was placed in the shop log/diary for the attention of the General Manager.
