Make dumping a dog a criminal offence and make sure people get prosecuted
Max was my dog and he was dumped by his previous owners in October 2016 when he was a 16 year old.
Max was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
I adopted him on December 8th 2016 and he sadly went over the Rainbow Bridge 20th February 2019 aged 18.
Max's law will be in his memory.
Max's law is about making the owner answerable in the eyes of the law.
As yet another elderly Staffy was abandoned by a canal this week.
The dog was micro-chipped and the owners were contacted by the vet. Their reply was that they no longer wanted the dog!
Max and I lived a happy life together, but sadly not all dogs are that lucky.
Around 1000 dogs are being put to sleep each year due to lack of room in rescue centres.
Bull breeds being the hardest to rehome.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're very sorry to hear about Max's passing.
We can’t accept your petition because animal cruelty is already a criminal offence, punishable by up to six months in prison. We therefore don’t know what action you’d like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
You might like to sign one of these petitions instead:

Alternatively you could start a new petition setting out clearly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
