Petition Action

De-classify biomass and intermittent sources of electricity as renewables

Petition Details

It has always been assumed that burning biomass is ‘carbon neutral’ but it is clearly not. About 1/5th of wood being burned produces nitrogen dioxide which is 300 times more potent than CO2. When 1000 MW windfarm starts generating 5 CCGTs are instructed to ramp down to 80% losing thermal efficiency

The graph shows that average temperature rise will double every 11.7 years. Babies born today will not live their three score years and ten as global temperature quadruple 23.4 years. I know that I am the only person saying this but that does not mean that I am wrong. We cannot continue burning any more fossil and biomass. I am willing to gift my invention to planet Earth that will provide all the electricity and desalinated water our planet needs.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you want the UK Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure what you mean by de-classify and we're not sure what you mean by intermittent sources of electricity.

We can only accept petitions which call for clear actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
