Petition Action

"Jacinda's Law" - a crime to publish name of anyone charged with an atrocity.

Petition Details

Refer to a person charged with an atrocity as the "Accused Cowardly Person" or (if convicted) the "Convicted Cowardly Person" and "it".

Deny it publicity, infamy and publicity - other than demonstrating the horror and shame of their actions.

Additional Information

Murderers, drug lords and psychopathic serial killers are elevated to cult hero status in films, documentaries and in folk-law - cut off their oxygen.

Kill off its' names!

At the same time honour the New Zealand Prime Minister for her principled stand, appropriate leadership and courage.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government and Parliament are not responsible for how people are described in the media.

You could start a new petition about something the UK Parliament and Government are responsible for. For example, you could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to ban the reporting of the names of terrorists or mass murders, if that's what you'd like to happen.
