Stop penalising the public sector for private sector problems.
The Government has been unfairly targeting the public sector for the worst cuts in history which is eroding morale as well as the well-being of public sector workers.
Nurses, teachers, firemen, police, bin collectors, etc etc, all are being targeted by an ideologically drivent government with cuts to pensions, cuts to salaries, and longer period to work.
The Government should recognise and honour the long term social contract with public sector employees. Namely that their salaries have been low relative to the private sector, to pay for job security and final salary pensions.
It is the fault of successive governments that they have not been putting aside money saved on salaries to fund future pensions.
Public sector workers should not be penalised for the failure of government machinery.
