Formally regulate the UK media to stop the spread of hate speech

Petition Details

Neil Basu, our counter terrorism chief has said that the far-right are being radicalised by mainstream newspapers.

Self regulation is clearly not working and therefor the government must step in and implement formal oversight.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because newspapers are already regulated by the Independent Press Standards Organisation. We aren't sure what further action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You can find out more about IPSO here:

www.ipso.co.uk/

You could start a new petition calling for a change to these arrangements if that is something you would like to see happen.
