MP's salaries to be means tested, wealthier MP's don't need £65k salaries. May encourage intelligent candidates from average backgronds.

Additional Information

The current salary for a member of parliament is £65,000, regardless of their personal wealth.
Members of parliament are never shy of saying that they are engaged in 'public service' & so I feel that if it is a public service their salaries should be means tested.

A millionaire who decides he/she wants to move into 'public service' does not need to be paid £65k for the privilege, while they should be remunerated for their time, a higher wage is not necessary when they are already wealthy.
I feel this may also encourage intelligent candidates from more down to earth backgrounds to consider becoming 'public servants', as they may also be more in touch with the needs of the average man/woman in the street.
