Introduce a negative voting feature for e-petitions
The e-petitions site is already cluttered with many petitions stating opposition to the aims of other petitions rather than making any policy suggestion. This creates an incoherence which damages the effectiveness of the site.
A option to 'sign in opposition' to any petition should therefore be introduced. Where consideration for parliamentary debate is currently triggered by positive signatures, it should instead be contingent on the difference: supporting signatures minus those in opposition.
This will tidy-up, streamline, and enhance the utility of the site and the sensibility of debates which may stem from it.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
