Techxit: blockchain industry opposes transposition of EU 5AMLD into English law

Petition Details

Techxit a tech-focussed Brexit.
Currently EU 5AMLD will be transposed into English law in 2019.
This will destroy the growing blockchain industry.
Brexit allows Britain to reassert sovereignty over its economic policy.
FCA and the Treasury must ensure an exemption from 5AMLD for cryptoassets.

Additional Information

Leaving the EU, Britain needs to make use of its reasserted sovereignty to differentiate itself economically from its neighbours and encourage growth. As both the SEC in the United States and ongoing EU legislation have proven unfriendly regulatory environments, Britain’s 3rd way must be to encourage the £100bn+ blockchain industry to see Britain’s as a jurisdiction fostering its growth. We call this #Techxit, a tech-focussed Brexit, and we need your help to achieve this.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition calling for the UK Government not to implement EU 5AMLD after leaving the EU if that's something you'd like to see happen.
