Legalise rescue of suffering birds from bird netting without owner’s permission

Petition Details

Birds can easily get stuck in bird netting and it can take days for them to die a long death. At the moment it’s not legal to rescue them without the bird netting’s owner permission and everyone doing so can help reliable for damages done to the bird netting. Legalise the rescue of suffering birds

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The law says it's an offence to cause an animal to suffer, either though an act or a failure to act. This would apply to a bird trapped in bird netting.

You can find out more here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
