We call for mandatory sentences for those using social media to issue threats.
In the past years, and not just in the United Kingdom, there has been a marked increase in the misuse of social media forums and telephone to threaten those, who lawfully express their own opinions, with threats, violence, or death.
The use of social media has been discussed by Parliament and its Committees in order to create within the operating companies a more responsible and responsive approach to the misuse of their platforms.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what you mean by "mandatory sentences".
You could start a new petition setting out the minimum sentences you would like to see for issuing threats.
