Scrap the e-petition process

Additional Information

This is a serious proposal.

I have this afternoon attemtped to 'sign' the petition "Do Not Restore Capital Punishment". When I try to confirm my entry as per your email I receive the notification 'page not found'.

This is not the problem but it does confirm my belief that this is a flawed idea. Suggesting that we can all take part in government simply defies the maths. If members of parliament were doing their job effectively they would recognise what was considered important and what was not. This system allows well organised and motivated minorities to have a disproportionate impact on the system. Sir George Young's comment on BBC News do more to confirm my fears than alleviate them.

You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
