A people’s vote on whether to have a 2nd referendum on deal, no deal or remain
In the recent meetings and marches, talks about how to limit the damage of the present predicament always stall. The only unopposed plausible solution that comes out of discussions that does not undermine the democratic process is to ask the people if they want to be asked. A very British question.
It is reasonable to accept that our situation has become so entrenched as to risk natianal unity whatever the outcome. A vote on the results of negotiations with the EU on how to deliver the UK remain/leave referendum seems on one level reasonable enough - but more reasonable is the argument that to ask the people the same question twice is to undermine any meaning in the first vote and even democracy itself. To support democracy and empower the voters the only question is: should we vote again?
